When it comes to Wood Decks, the two most popular options are a cedar deck and pressure treated wood. Cedar is the preferred choice for those that like the natural look and feel of wood. It has a warm colour tone along with an amazing scent. Cedar is naturally resistant to moisture and insects and if properly installed and maintained, will last you around 20 years. 

The more economical option tends to be a pressure treated wood. This is wood (typically Fir or Pine) that has been infused with chemicals to protect the wood from insects and rot. This type of wood requires a solid stain or paint as it does not have the same warm tones of cedar. Like any wood deck, there is a decent amount of maintenance work required and we recommend resealing every 2 years.
